When I say Profile it is the member name colouring I am talking about. Forum communities display members in many format like ‘Who’s Online’, ‘Number of New Registration’ e.t.c. However I have found that differentiating the members based upon their participation level and giving them different colours make a lot of impact on the community participation. Providing blog has become a matter of debate and many forum owners never had success with blogging on their community sites. Does that mean blogging should not be a part of Forum Social Network? When I create a new community, the first advice I give to forum admins is to create internal area of discussions for users before they actually create public area.
The internal area should define your vision, roles of moderators, conflict resolutions escalation matrix, contact details, Moderated Post discussions, and General discussions.
A regular web watcher first looks down to see if the Forum has enough weight by way of number of Members, Number of Online users. Statistics drive new registration in a zippy, no doubt about it. We got to respect that and build our strategy around that. However, that is not always the case especially for the one who are new to the Forum world, and also for those who are searching for specific answers.
